Indoor Gardening Tips: How to Grow Micro Greens at Home

Looking to grow your own food indoors at home? Start with an easy crop that provides immediate gratification - micro greens! Micro greens are easy to grow and considered a "super food" by many nutritional experts and healthier food advocates. Here's a quick step-by-step guide on how to grow your own micro greens at your home garden created by our operations manager, Megan Finnerty :

STEP 1.) First, you want to get a seedling tray from any gardening store and fill it with soil or, in our case, soilless - a mix of peat moss, perlite and coco.

STEP 2.) Wet the soil and gently sprinkle the seeds on top of the soil then gently press the seeds onto the very top of the soil. Spray the soil with water then cover for 2-3 days.

STEP 3.) Make sure the soil stays damp by spraying with water daily.

STEP 4.) Once the micro greens sprout out of the soil, take the cover off and put them under a MH (metal halide), fluorescent, or LED lamp. In this case, we used a 1000w MH with the tray approx. 5' away from the light. STEP 5.) Spray with water and Suite Leaf's Bioactive Humates for healthy soil biology and microbes for root growth and after 2-3 days of being under the light, and watering them daily, they begin to sprout like crazy almost immediately. Here was our final result!
